Charlie C. Chen, Ph.D., is an Associate Professor in the Department of Computer Information Systems in the Walker College of Business of Appalachian State University.

Dr. Chen received his Ph.D. in Management Information Systems (MIS) from Claremont Graduate University.

He received his MBA degree from the American Graduate School of International Management, a MS degree in MIS from Fairleigh Dickinson University, and his Bachelors of Production and Operations Management from Tamsui Oxford College.

Dr. Chen is the newly elected President of the International Chinese Information Systems Association for the year 2010-2011. He is also a Project Management Professional (PMP) certified by the Project Management Institute since the year 2004. He is a trilinguist (Japanese, Mandarin and English) and had over six years of industry and eight years of research experiences. He teaches a variety of undergraduate and graduate CIS courses. Dr. Chen dedicates himself to be a transnational scholar and is a trip leader for a study abroad program in Asia (Japan and Taiwan).

He has authored more than 50 referred articles and proceedings, presented at many professional conferences and venues. Dr. Chen has published articles in the Communications of the Association for Information Systems, IEEE Transactions on Engineering Management, Management Research News, Behaviour and Information Technology, Educational Technology and Society, Computers and Education, etc. Dr. Chen has presented his papers at a number of conferences including the Hawaiian International Conference on Systems Science and has authored chapters in different technology books. He is serving as a reviewer for MIS Quarterly, a leading journal in IS, and for AMCIS and DSI conferences.
