Walker College of Business professor Lewis Alexander has received Appalachian State University's Transfer Champion award for 2020.
Alexander was selected because he "has touched and improved the lives of Appalachian's transfer students" through his "compassion and dedication."
Provided by Appalachian State University's Office of Transfer Services, the award will be presented during the University College and General Education Awards Ceremony on Tuesday, April 14 at 4:00 pm in the Plemmons Student Union Solarium on Appalachian's campus.
The selection committee referenced Alexander's program that pairs new transfer students with successful students who can assist in their integration, as well as his participation in the development of a community college cooperative program and mentoring of transfer students majoring in Computer Information Systems.
"Thanks so much for all that you do, Lewis," added CIS Chair Scott Hunsinger, "especially for our transfer students!"

The award is part of Appalachian's University College and General Education Awards for the 2019-2020 Academic Year.
"These award winners have exemplified these goals through their work with Appalachian students throughout their academic careers," said Vice Provost for Undergraduate Education Mark Ginn. "All [the winners] are committed to enhancing the Appalachian experience for all of our students. We congratulate them all and look forward to getting together in the future to celebrate their accomplishments."
