Event Background
Appalachian State University's Cyber Summit is our annual professional development series where attendees will learn from the leading experts in the cybersecurity field. Held on Appalachian's campus in the new Grandview Ballroom at Kidd Brewer Stadium, attendees will network with industry specialists, business leaders and develop partnerships with the Department of Computer Information Systems and its rising star students. All Proceeds from the events fund student scholarships in the Department of Computer Information Systems.
In 2022, the Appalachian State Cyber Summit became one of the preeminent cyber security events in the tri-state area of North Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia. The Summit attracted a mix of speakers and attendees from leading security software providers, consultancies, and industry practitioners. More than 98 individual companies were represented with almost 300 in attendance. Proceeds from Cyber Summit provided an unprecedented level of scholarships to Appalachian State CIS students for the 2023-2024 academic year. The event allows students to attend for free but they must complete a registration and questionaire in advance.

Why attend?
Integrating security into development is a critical front in the battle against cyber attacks. The last few years have taught us how important it is to protect your sensitive data, intellectual property, and information systems. Attendees will learn how to do so from industry leaders along with the most current industry trends.
All proceeds from our events are used to provide scholarships to CIS students. For the 2023-2024 academic year, Cyber Summit and the CIS Advisory Board will provide $50,000 in scholarship funding to very deserving students.
