Dr. Albert L. Harris retired as a Professor of Computer Information Systems in the John A. Walker College of Business. He spent 28 years on the Computer Information Systems faculty. He taught a variety of graduate and undergraduate classes in information technology (IT)/information systems (IS). His research interests include IS education, IT ethics, and global use of information technology. He co-edited a book titled Managing Global Information Technology: Strategies and Challenges and published 10 book chapters and over 90 refereed scholarly articles in academic journals and conference proceedings. Dr. Harris was Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Information Systems Education for 10 years. He served as Secretary and Director for the International Academy of Information Management (IAIM), Secretary of the International Governing Body, Alpha Iota Mu, an International Honor Society for Information Systems students, and was a member of the Board of Directors for the Education Special Interest Group (EDSIG)

 

Dr. Harris’ awards include:

  • Outstanding Contribution to Information Systems Education, the Association for Information Systems (AIS), 2012
  • AITP/EDSIG Fellow, 2010
  • Fulbright Scholar to Portugal, Council for International Exchange of Scholars, 2006

 

Dr. Harris has taught classes in France, Poland, Portugal, and Austria. He led study abroad trips for students to Japan/Taiwan, India, France, Poland, and China. Before joining ASU, he spent 15 years as an IT and computing consultant, culminating as owner and President of Management/Systems Advisors. After college, he served as an officer in the USMC with a combat tour in Vietnam.
