Fletus Poston III is an accomplished cybersecurity and information technology leader with more than 20 years of experience leading cybersecurity, infrastructure, governance, risk, compliance, and technology operations across the manufacturing, software, utility, financial services, and critical infrastructure sectors. He currently serves as Director of IT and Cybersecurity for 3D Systems Corporation, where he leads enterprise cybersecurity strategy, security operations, infrastructure architecture, compliance initiatives, and emerging technology programs supporting global business operations.
Throughout his career, Fletus has held leadership and engineering positions with organizations including 3D Systems, CrashPlan, Duke Energy, and SANS Institute. His expertise spans cyber defense, security operations, cloud security, application security, governance and risk management, digital transformation, and enterprise technology strategy. He has successfully led initiatives involving security operations centers (SOCs), security architecture modernization, risk management programs, regulatory compliance, incident response, and operational technology (OT) security.
In addition to his industry leadership, Fletus is committed to developing the next generation of cybersecurity professionals. He serves as Adjunct Faculty in the Walker College of Business at Appalachian State University, teaching courses focused on artificial intelligence, business systems, and cybersecurity. He also serves as a Faculty Research Advisor for the SANS Technology Institute, mentoring graduate students and evaluating cybersecurity research and presentations.
Poston is an active cybersecurity author, speaker, mentor, and community educator. His published work addresses topics including security leadership, artificial intelligence, cyber resilience, security operations, infrastructure security, and workforce development. He regularly contributes to professional communities through speaking engagements, mentoring programs, research advising, and industry outreach initiatives.
He holds a Master of Science in Information Systems with a concentration in Information Assurance and maintains numerous industry-recognized cybersecurity certifications, including CISSP and multiple GIAC certifications covering cyber defense, monitoring, leadership, operations, and security management disciplines.
Fletus' teaching philosophy emphasizes bridging the gap between academic theory and real-world practice, preparing students to navigate the rapidly evolving landscapes of cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, enterprise technology, and digital risk management.
