Before joining Appalachian State, Dr. Hassler served as a Visiting Assistant Professor in the Culverhouse College of Commerce at The University of Alabama, and as a Master Instructor for the U.S. Air Force.
Prior to returning to academia, Dr. Hassler worked as a Senior Network Systems Engineer in the Internet Services and Telecom Industry. He also has considerable experience as a systems developer, systems analyst and administrator, and as a database designer and administrator. Before his career in the corporate sector, he was a member of the U.S. Air Force where he worked as an Intelligence Analyst and Instructor. As an Instructor, he was part of a mobile training team that traveled worldwide to train airmen on new technology.
Dr. Hassler currently serves as the Chief Data Officer for the Center for Analytic Research and Education.
Dr. Hassler's primary research interests are in the areas of evidence-based decision support, systems/software development, analytics, and artificial intelligence.
