Jeff Moretz

Jeff Moretz is a special faculty lecturer for CIS 1060 in the Walker College of Business at Appalachian State University. He is a graduate of Caldwell Community College, where he began pursuing a computer programming associate's degree, but decided to pursue an associate in arts so he could attend Appalachian State University, while also attaining two certificates: one in Computer Programming and one in Network and Cyber Security. He then pursued his lifelong dream of attending music school and chose a highly technical degree of Bachelor of Science in Recording and Production at The Hayes School of Music because of his love for music and technology. This degree included a business minor, which introduced him to The Walker College of Business, where he joined the Accelerated Admissions program, and completed his Master of Business Administration in the Spring of 2025, directly after completing a summer internship at The Appalachian Theatre of the High Country. He additionally completed a Marketing Internship through the summer of 2023.

He now holds an additional position as Computer Services Technician at Caldwell Community College, which he has held since the spring of 2024, as well as Production Manager for Saloon Studios Live in West Jefferson, NC, a large outdoor music venue and recording studio that hosts national acts. He has been a music teacher through the Town of Boone at the Jones House Cultural Center for the JAM Program, Junior Appalachian Musicians, for 15 years. Jeff also ran his own home improvement business for over 20 years while attending college and raising a family.

Jeff’s research interests include research of the music business, computer technology, marketing, and AI applications that develop innovations in these fields. His personal interests include app-related innovations, music performance, music instruction, farming, and historical local culture and preservation. He looks forward to bringing his diverse background to the College and sharing his passion for education.
