Shane Sharpe has worked extensively as a business and technology consultant in concert with his academic experiences. He has also served as the director of engineering with Therapy Brands, as a special assistant to the CIO at Home Depot, and in multiple other roles in a variety
of industries. During his tenure at the University of Alabama, he served as a professor of MIS in the Culverhouse College of Business where he taught a variety of courses to undergraduate and graduate students. He also served as the director of the Randall Research Scholars Program,
director of the Business Honors Program, director of the Emerging Scholars Program, and dean of the Honors College. He has published research in the Communications of the ACM, IEEE Transactions on Software Engineering, Information Systems Audit and Control, Journal of Computer Information Systems, Information Resources Management, Journal of Systems Management, Journal of Software Maintenance, and the International Journal of Human-Computer Studies.
