Samantha Williams

Samantha Williams joined the Department of Computer Information Systems in 2016 and has been part of Appalachian State University since 2007. Before joining CIS, she served as the University’s Default Prevention Coordinator and was recognized in 2015 by the U.S. Department of Education as one of the nation’s Top 25 Default Prevention Specialists. Samantha holds degrees in Business Administration, Office Administration, and Public Management, and is an NC native.

Samantha is a three‑time university award recipient: the 2020 Walker College of Business Outstanding Staff Award, the 2024 App State Student Success Award, and the 2025 Staff Spirit of Sywassink Award.

Her passion is serving students and strengthening the App State community. She has been a program leader for the Walker College of Business Honors Program, advisor for the Appalachian Supply Chain Club, Learning Leader for ASE, and co‑leader for multiple study abroad programs. She also serves as a Transfer Faculty Mentor for ASU, supported the Walker College of Business Computer Proficiency Program from 2016–2019, and was the MOS coordinator from 2020-2026.

Samantha’s current work centers on building strategic partnerships with business and industry to expand opportunities for App State students and academic programs. She leads departmental engagement initiatives and serves as the event coordinator for the annual Cyber Summit, a flagship conference connecting industry leaders, faculty, and students in cybersecurity, AI, and emerging technologies.
