Yuxiao "Rain" Luo, PhD

Dr. Luo received his Ph.D. in Information Systems from The Graduate Center & Baruch College, City University of New York. He has three ongoing streams of research in the areas of the applications of digital nudging, platform economics and corporate social responsibility. He employs both quantitative (i.e., causal inference) and machine learning methods as well as experimental approach in his studies.

Dr. Luo has taught undergraduate courses and graduate workshops in areas such as programming analytics with Python, data analytics with R, business statistics, and information technology and management, and received the John Elliot Teaching Award 2018 at Baruch College (CUNY). He wrote an open-source book as teaching materials for data analytics, which is called Data Analytics in Digital Research with R (free access: https://gcdf-cuny.gitbook.io/data-analytics-in-digital-research-with-r/).

Dr. Luo’s research has been presented in major academic conferences and organizations such as INFORMS Annual Meeting, AMCIS, Annual NEAIS Conference, IABS Annual Conference, AoM, etc. He has received multiple research grants and the Mills & Tannenbaum Research Excellence Award 2021 from Baruch College (CUNY).

Dr. Luo serves as reviewer for multiple peer-reviewed academic conferences and journal. He also has work experience in the music industry when he produced beats for rappers and released songs as indie musician in China.
