Dr. Jason Xiong is an information systems scholar and academic leader who serves as Associate Dean for Advanced Studies in Business at Appalachian State University’s Walker College of Business. Since 2023, he has led the college’s graduate programs, faculty and student research, the Honors Program, and executive and professional education—advancing quality, innovation, and impact across the college’s portfolio. He is committed to student success and professional growth, strengthening advising, experiential learning, and career-connected opportunities that help students translate learning into outcomes.
Xiong’s research examines how organizations adopt, govern, and derive value from emerging technologies—especially applied AI and analytics, cybersecurity, blockchain/DLT, and digital platforms—with a sustained focus on ethics and societal impact. His publications include articles in AIS Senior Scholars’ premier journals, such as Information & Management, and in leading outlets, including the International Journal of Electronic Commerce. A recipient of Appalachian State’s Board of Governors Excellence in Teaching Award (2022), he teaches applied AI, analytics, quantitative methods, and emerging technologies across undergraduate and graduate programs. Before academia, he held industry roles with Fortune 500 technology firms.
