Jesse Spillars

"I am a senior majoring in computer information systems here at Appalachian State University this fall, and I am on track to graduate May 2021. My goal is to become a network engineer or work in the cybersecurity field. Currently, I serve as Vice President and am active member in ASU’s Association of Information Technology Professionals. As a Navy veteran, I’m utilizing my Post 9/11 GI Bill to fund my education, which has been especially helpful during these uncertain times. Thanks to this scholarship, I will be able to better meet my financial responsibilities and focus more on my studies."

I am extremely honored to have received the CIS Advisory Board Scholarship. This scholarship is helping me cover tuition costs for this academic year. Seeing this kind of generosity, especially during these uncertain times, makes me want to give back to CIS majors in a similar way.
