Xiong to serve as associate dean for advanced studies in business

Dr. Jason Xiong, an associate professor in the Department of Computer Information Systems, will serve as associate dean for advanced studies in business at Appalachian State University, effective July 1.

Xiong previously served as director of App State’s Master of Science in Applied Data Analytics program, the STEM-designated degree that provides students technical skills to work with data within a business context.

“In addition to successful experience as a graduate program faculty member and program director, Dr. Xiong brings a passion for excellence and innovation to this role,” said Walker College of Business Dean Sandra Vannoy. “I am confident he will facilitate opportunities for our students, enhance experiential learning initiatives, and promote research collaborations.”

About Jason Xiong

Xiong joined App State's faculty in 2016 and has served on the admissions and Assurance of Learning committees for the MSADA program.

In addition to his service and teaching experience, Xiong also brings to the role previous work experience in large IT companies in the United States and China.

His research interests include Business Analytics, Emerging Technologies and Ethical Issues, E-Commerce, and IT for Development.

Xiong earned his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in Electronic Commerce degree from University of Electronic Science and Technology of China, a Master of Science in Economics Degree from Zhejiang University, a Master of Science in Management Information Systems Degree and Ph.D. in Computer Information Systems Degree from University of Nebraska Omaha.
