CIS Cybersecurity Concentration

We're excited to inform you about a new concentration in Cybersecurity for CIS majors that will start in Fall 2021.  In order to add the concentration to your CIS major, please make an appointment with a WCOB advisor.   So that our department can also track interest, please also email Samantha Williams ( and me ( if you are graduating in Fall 2021 or later and would like to pursue the Cybersecurity concentration. In addition to the CIS major core classes, to earn this concentration, you'll need to take the following courses:   

CIS Cybersecurity Concentration Required Courses (6 hours)

Take both of the following:

CIS 3740 - Audit Analytics

CIS 3840 - Managing Security


CIS Cybersecurity Concentration Elective Courses (6 hours)

Take one of the following:

CIS 3820- Ethics and Privacy

CIS 3880- Ethical Hacking and Countermeasures



Once the Registrar's office has made updates to the bulletin, students continuing in Fall 2021 will be able to declare the new concentration.  We anticipate this should occur in May 2021.  More information will be sent to all CIS majors at a later time.
