Association of Information Technology Professionals (AITP)

Faculty Advisor: Dr. Scott Hunsinger

AITP allows students interested in Information Systems to get together for professional development and social purposes. AITP offers speakers on related topics, opportunities to meet and interact with professionals in the field (potential job contacts), and social gatherings with others of similar interests.

Honor Societies


Alpha Iota Mu is an international honor society organized to recognize outstanding academic achievement in the field of information management. Members of the Appalachian State University Chapter are students who have completed or are in the process of completing an undergraduate program of study in the field of computer information systems. CIS majors with a 3.4 or greater overall GPA who have taken at least one CIS core course are invited to join the honor society.



Sigma Chi Mu Tau is a national honor society for supply chain management juniors and seniors as well as educators and professionals who have shown dedication and contributions to the supply chain management profession. Sigma Chi Mu Tau recognizes academic merit and encourages leadership, ethical behavior and commitment to high standards in the pursuit of supply chain management excellence. The top 10% of Juniors and the top 20% of Seniors, who have taken at least one SCM major core course will be invited to join. Invitations are extended once during a student’s academic career.
