AppITP allows students interested in Information Systems to get together for professional development and social purposes. AppITP offers speakers on related topics, opportunities to meet and interact with

professionals in the field (potential job contacts), and social gatherings with others of similar interests.

Mountaineer Cybersecurity Club (MCC)

Faculty Advisor: Dr. Russell Haines

MCC is a student-led organization dedicated to helping members develop real-world cybersecurity skills through hands-on learning, collaboration, and competition. MCC provides opportunities to explore areas such as ethical hacking, network security, digital forensics, and cyber defense through workshops, Capture The Flag (CTF) challenges, and industry-focused events. Whether students are new to cybersecurity or looking to advance their technical expertise, MCC offers a supportive environment to build skills, gain experience, and connect with like-minded peers interested in careers in cybersecurity.

CIS Honor Society

Alpha Iota Mu is an international honor society that recognizes outstanding academic achievement in the field of information management. Members of the Appalachian State University Chapter are students who have completed or are in the process of completing an undergraduate program of study in the field of computer information systems. CIS majors with a 3.5 or greater overall GPA who have taken at least one CIS core course are invited to join the honor society.
