CIS faculty win awards at Information Systems & Computing Academic Professionals conference

Three faculty from Appalachian State's Department of Computer Information Systems received awards November 1-4 at the Information Systems & Computing Academic Professionals (ISCAP) conference in Albuquerque, NM.  Approximately 175 attendees presented over 135 peer-reviewed papers, cases, and abstracts.   Dr. Wei Xie won the Information Systems Applied Research Best Paper Award for her paper, "Information Adoption of User-Generated Content: An Applied Model for COVID Pandemic Case,"  The paper investigates how information quality and religiosity impact people's intake of user-generated COVID vaccination information posted on social media. Dr. Ed Hassler was named the Top Journal Reviewer for 2023 in recognition of his work in providing a significant number of journal reviews and providing substantial, actionable, detailed, and supportive feedback to authors as a member of the Journal of Information Systems Applied Research (JISAR) Editorial Review Board.   Dr. Scott Hunsinger (pictured) was honored as the 2023 ISCAP-EDSIG Fellows inductee for his sustained, long-term, meaningful and effective support of the organization in its ongoing mission to improve IS Education, mentor IS students, and foster the careers of IS faculty. He has participated in multiple leadership roles including President and Vice President and continues to serve as Senior Editor of JISAR.
